The Publish Editor is a part of Divine Elemente that you can use to assign elements, adjust their properties and publish a web page or working CMS theme.

Publish Editor launch

A PSD template can be opened either in the Layout Editor or the Publish Editor. Select the appropriate editor from the ‘Elemente’ menu.To make it easy working with Divine Elemente in Adobe Photoshop, the ‘Elemente’ menu was placed in Photoshop upper menu, and divided into several submenus.

After its launch, Divine Elemente preprocesses your PSD template, looking for PSD hints and invisible data such as layout grid, elements’ properties, theme’s properties, etc.

If a PSD template was previously saved in Divine Elemente, or a special PSD hint group or layers of a template were prepared in Photoshop in advance, they would be applied to the PSD template in the Publish Editor.

If the properties or PSD hints are not found by Divine Elemente, the plugin configures publish settings by default for a PSD template. These can be adjusted in the Layout and Publish Editors.

The Layout and Publish Editors work jointly with each other. All of the PSD template data are synchronized between the editors.

Thus, there is no necessity to quit from one editor and launch the other one. To move from one editor to another, simply click on the ‘Layout’ or ‘Publish’ editor tab in the Command panel (on the right).

Work with Publish Editor

The basic workflows of the Publish Editor are elements assignment, properties adjustment and setting the publish format to a web page or a theme. All of these workflows are described in details below.

Elements assignment
Elements assignment in the Publish Editor is carried out in the Layers panel or canvas. During this process each element can be assigned with properties such as, styles and functionality required for a web page / theme objects. This can be ‘Text’, ‘Link’, ‘Image’, etc.

Element properties adjustment:
After an element is assigned, it can also have additional properties added. Each element has its own number of available properties.

For example, you can include a link “http://www.mywebsite.com” or “/home.php”; adjust autonaming properties, and quality and type of an image (JPG 60% or PNG24); set margins, etc. These adjustments can be carried out in the Properties panel.

In the Publish Editor you can also check actions performed during element assignment and adjustment. The “View > Show elements” menu item (A) in the upper menu will show the name of the elements highlighted by your mouse.

After you have assigned elements and made your adjustments you are ready to publish your work. Information on various publishing modes is considered below.

Publishing

Publishing is the process of converting the PSD template into a web page or CMS theme.

Publish Editor. Publishing

There are 3 publishing modes in Divine Elemente: ‘HTML preview’, ‘Save to folder’ and ‘Publish via FTP account’.

Each mode offers various options dependent on your requirements.

HTML preview is a publishing mode that can be used to create a separate web page in HTML / CSS format.

To publish ‘HTML preview’:

• select a ‘HTML preview’ (B),
• and then click on the ‘Publish’ button (A)

If you want to preview a CMS theme you can use ‘HTML preview’ and all dynamic theme’s elements (‘Post title’, ‘Author’, ‘Date’, ‘Comments’, etc.) will be converted into HTML static elements (‘Image’, ‘Link’, ‘Text’), and displayed on the page.

“Save to folder” can save all the theme’s files in a local folder on your hard drive.

To “Save to folder”:

• set the path to the folder (the ‘Settings > Publish’ menu) (A);
• select ‘Save to folder’ (B)(C);
• and then click the ‘Save to folder’ button (D).

And you’ll get a ready theme for installation with all plugins and properties required for its work.

Warning: At the theme uploading to the server, you should install all the plugins downloaded before your theme’s activation. This installation is required just once for the first theme only. The rest themes will be activated with no problem.

So, please follow these steps carefully:

• Create a theme (Save to local folder).
• Copy all the theme’s folders to your server.
• Install all new WordPress plugins (in the WordPress (wp-admin) backend)
• After that, activate your theme.

Note:This mode can be used for checking / editing your theme on your local machine before uploading WordPress theme to the Internet. More details on these actions can be found in the “WordPress and XAMPP installation guide” guide.

“Publish via FTP account” is used to publish the files and upload them to your web server /web host via FPT.

To “Publish via FTP account”:

• set your FTP account details (the ‘Settings > Accounts’ menu) (A);
• select ‘Upload to <Account>” (C);
• and click the ‘Publish’ button (B).

Hint: Using one account, several themes can be uploaded to the web server right from Divine Elemente. You can then change your website / blog’s design as often as you want (e.g. according to changing of seasons, day time, holidays, etc.)
