General information about the program

Q: What is Divine plugin?
A: Divine is the program developed for those who know a bit about Photoshop and sites creation but don’t want to waste their time making up a valid website on basis of popular CMS manually. Using this program you are able to easily make up a professional website and upload it promptly to the server through the embedded FTP-client.
Q: What limitations does Divine Free version have?
A: Please find this information at page «limitations».
Q: What versions of this plugin already exist / are planned?
A: For the present moment, first Free Edition of Divine is released; it is mainly intended for acquaintance with the program functionality and plugin debugging. Please visit “Roadmap” page at our official site to view the list of program releases planned.
Q: Do you have a beta testing program?
A: Yes, of course, beta testing program was launched on August 21, 2009. Please follow this link to register: «Beta tester» or contact us via e-mail info@divine-project.com.
Q: Are other languages supported for the interface?
A: Interface support for different languages is in our plans for the nearest future, and it’ll be included in all program versions.
Q: Can this be used on Mac?
A: Unfortunately, the program works with Windows only. But we plan Mac support for future.

Plugin installation

Q: What are the basic system requirements?
A: Divine was developed as the plugin for the popular editor Photoshop.
This is why minimal system requirements straightly depend on your Photoshop version’s requirements.

Q: How do I install this plugin?
A: To install the plugin Divine, you should do the following:
  • Download the latest release of Divine from our site.
  • Run the Divine_setup.exe program. Setup will guide you through the rest of the installation process.
  • Launch Photoshop. The plugin is ready to work.
Note: Firstly, plugin installation needs previously installed Photoshop editor.
Secondly, Photoshop must be closed during installation.

Q: Can I install the plugin to multiple versions of Photoshop?
A: Yes, it is possible. While installing the plugin, tick all Photoshop versions that you want to install the plugin to. The program installer lets you to choose up to 5 different Photoshop versions for the plugin. If you have more, just run the installer again and select the appropriate version.
Q: How do I install plugin for the portable version of Photoshop?
A: In case you have a portable editor, you must specify a “Custom folder” path to the directory where all plugins of the editor version are located.
Q: Does this plugin support 64-bit version of Photoshop?
A: Unfortunately we don’t support 64-Bit products for now, and we haven’t tested these systems yet. Divine works with 32-Bit Photoshop only.

Launch and work with the plugin

Q: How do I run the plugin in Photoshop?
A: Just as it was described in the documentation before, Divine plugin can be launched from the menu “Divine>publish” (up to Photoshop CS3), or from the menu “File>Automate>Divine” (in all Photoshop versions).
Q: How do I choose the right size of the theme layout?
A: You have to go basically by resolution of displays of your target audience, and the size will change in future. At the moment we can offer you just statistics of usage of display’s sizes.

  • 1680х1050 – 18,32%
  • 1280х800 – 18,22%
  • 1440Х900 – 15,28%
  • 1280х1024 – 11,44%
  • 1024х768 – 9,44%
  • 1920х1200 – 8,31%
  • 1920х1080 – 3,81%
  • 1366х768 – 3,73%
  • The most optimal one to choose is 1024×768. It is that size that we recommend to go by at layout’s development.
Q: How do I create my own template with Divine Free Edition?
A: The free version of the program has significant limitations in its functionality. The process of template creation with a glance at these limitations is described at page «How to create a theme with Divine Free version»
Q: What color mode should I use for the theme to be displayed correctly?
A: For your theme to be displayed correctly, do NOT use color modes different from RGB-8 color modes. Other modes will be transferred to RGB-8 if possible.
Q: Can I use different effects on the text layers?
A: Usage of effects on the text layers is not advisable. If you want to leave them as text, all effects (rotations, transformation, etc.) will be disabled, in other cases you’ll be able to make these layers as graphic elements.
Q: Why does the text reflected differ from the one used in Photoshop?
A: As Adobe Photoshop and your browser use different algorithms of text display, it’s impossible to reach 100% fidelity, unless we display text as an image. However it’s not recommended, as it breaks site’s rates in terms of SEO and search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing etc.).

Q: Why does the text run over the fields in Photoshop?
A: When you create a text box in Photoshop watch the text boundaries. By default, text that overruns the field borders will be displayed on the page.
Q: Where can I find documentation on the work with the program?
A: You can find all necessary information about work with the program at our site www.divine-project.com.
Q: What CMS’ does the program support?
A: Free and Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal) versions support CMS WordPress only. In future versions other popular CMS’ (Joomla, Drupal, etc.) will be supported.
Q: How do I know about the new program version release?
A: Just launch your Divine plugin and go to the menu “Help> Update”. There you will see the current program version and the one that is available for updating.

Theme creation and export

Q: How do I assign theme elements?
A: To do this, you need to mark the item you need and then choose the necessary element role from the context menu. Find more details at the page «Elements».
Q: How do I set the page background color?
A: There are 2 ways to set the background color.
  1. Select “Body” object in the “Elements” panel, and assign the necessary colour to the “background-color” parameter in the “Element properties” window.
  2. Assign the necessary colour to the «Website Background Color» parameter in the “Settings->Page” menu.
There are a few ways to set the colour:
  • Enter the colour as text (red, white, black, etc.);
  • Enter color in its RGB value (# FF0000, # F00, # 000000, # FFFFFF);
  • Select a color using colourpicker.
Q: How do I configure FTP account?
A: You can configure FTP account from the menu «Settings>Accounts». See more information at page «FTP Export».
Q: How do I set export via Proxy server?
A: Configure your Proxy server from the menu «Settings>Connection». Find more information can at page «FTP Export».
Q: How do I preview themes?
A: To make a preview, you need to select “HTML preview” in export menu “Publish to:”. Then press Publish. See more information at the page «FTP Export».
Q: How do I save my theme on a local disk?
A: To create a local copy of the theme files, you need to select “Local folder” in export menu “Publish to:”, after that choose location where files will be saved. Then press Publish. See more information at the page «FTP Export».
Q: How do I carry out export to the FTP server?
A: Before you publish your theme at the server, you must create an export account. Then select “FTP: ” in the export menu “Publish to” and press Publish. See more information at the page «FTP Export».

Plugin removal

Q: How do I remove a plugin from the particular Photoshop version?
A:
  1. Launch plugin Uninstall. To do that, follow these steps:
    • Choose Uninstall from the Divine program group.
    or
    • Open the Control Panel (on the Start menu choose Settings, Control Panel).
    • Double-click the on the “Add/Remove programs” icon.
    • Search in the list for the item “Divine” and double-click on it.
  2. Select only these Photoshop versions that you want to delete Divine from. Deselect all other versions.
  3. Press “Ok”.

Troubleshooting

Q: How do I report a problem in the program?
A: If you want to let us know about an error, you need to do the following:
  • Choose “Report a Bug” from the Divine program group.
  • Write a brief about the problem you ran into.
  • Select error type (Crash, Wrong behavior, Other)
  • Select necessary sending options (Send Screenshot, send export journal)
  • Press Send.
Q: How do I leave my suggestion / feedback about the program?
